Nigar Johar- Pakistan’s first female fighter

Pakistan’s first three-star female general, Lieutenant General Nigar Johar, has been promoted to the position of colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps (AMC). She has received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) decoration as well as the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal from Pakistan’s prime minister for her meritorious service in the Army Medical Corps. Additionally, she has received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz.

Ayesha Malik – Supreme Court Judge

Pakistan swears in Ayesha Malik as its first female Supreme Court judge in a landmark decision. In addition, Malik is well-known for her groundbreaking decision in January of last year to eliminate the two-finger virginity test that was previously administered to rape exam victims of sexual assault and violence.

Sana Mir- Cricket Star

For a number of years, Sana Mir has been the face of Pakistani women’s cricket. In 2018, Mir rose to the top of the women’s ODI rankings. Secondly she is one of just nine ladies cricketers to have taken 100 ODI wickets and among just five ladies players to score 1,000 runs in ODI matches. When she retired at the age of 34, she ranked ninth among bowlers and was the most successful female spinner.

 

Shazia Parveen- Pakistan’s first female firefighter

Shazia Parveen is Pakistan’s first female firefighter as well as the first female firefighter in rescue unit 1122 in Vehari (near Multan).

 

Zara Dar – ACCA Topper

In December, Zara Naeem Dar won the global prize for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exam. Consequently it placed her at the top of the world.

Dr Zubaida Sirang – Eye Surgeon

Dr. Zubaira Sirang, a Chitral-based eye surgeon. She became first Pakistani author to have her work included on the prestigious Book Authority List. Her book Optics Made Simple: The “Best Ophthalmology Books of All Time” included the ophthalmology students’ last-minute revision aid, The Last Review of Clinical Optics.

Karishma Ali – Football player, Entrepreneur

Karishma Ali, 22, is the first Chitral woman to play both national and international football. She was included in Forbes’ list of 30 under 30. In addition, Ali is the founder of the Chitral Women’s Sports Club. It is a training school for girls whose mission is to inspire other young girls in the area to participate in sports as well as other activities.
